2 Weeks To Go And Wanting To Eat Everything! Help!

Recommended Posts

I'm down to 2 weeks before my surgery, and I don't have a very strict pre-op diet. Although I've been preparing myself for what to expect afterwards. So I'm trying my hardest to be strict on what I eat etc... I've already lost 12.5lbs myself.

But I'm craving everything! And I want to eat everything thats not allowed after being banded!

Last night we had our last family take out night, Thai (which isnt that bad) but I felt so guilty after eating it, I cried.

And to makes things worse, the Canadian Thanksgiving is right before I go in... so I feel like its my 'last supper'

Did anyone else feel this way as their surgery date approaches and how did you cope?

Please help!

Its hard on us Fatties we grieve food like we have lost our best friend because for many folks thats exactly what it is... So we think we are giving up the world when we have to diet.

After being banded you can eat anything just about ,,,, you just don't want too ..it's just food and a little bite will do you... Your life will stop revolving around food and you will not have that love/hate relationship I love that food but I hate myself because I ate it feeling . Now thats something to be Thankful For .... So this year is just the begining of a new life with food . Remember no fat livers is 30 mins of food worth them saying sorry we couldn't do the surgery .

I have my surgery on the 27th and my pre op diet is VERY strict. liquids only, Protein Shakes, clear broth, Popsicles. I've got 5 more days!

It does get easier, I promise. I was on a liquid diet 2 weeks prior and by the 2nd week, I was fine, no cravings. I did cheat once and that was just for lack of planning on my part. I am having a harder time post op with the Protein that I am back to drinking some of my leftover shakes and call me crazy, even ordered a box of them from my surgeon to have on hand for emergencies and travel once I am on food again. I am 4 days post op and have struggled with all the protein enhanced foods, I can't stomach them, so today, I had 1/2 an optifree shake and I smiled the whole time, I was soooo happy.

Forget about canadian thanksgiving, focus on celebrating US thanksgiving!!!

Did you enjoy the Optifast shakes? Is that the only one you tried?

I wasn't given a choice, Optifast was what the surgeon told me I had to do. Lots of ice, well blended and drank thru a straw and they really weren't that bad. I added some instant coffee to the vanilla one for taste and by week 2, drinking them and 1 serving of fruits and 1 serving of veggies and I was good. Doesn't mean I wouldn't have eaten a steak if it was in front of me......but I was good.

I know exactly how you feel!

I start my pre op diet on October 5th (the weekend of our Thanksgiving) and I will spending the weekend in Niagara Falls with my sister at an amazing bed and Breakfast. My breakfast will be Slimtime not eggs benedict...lol

Lately I have found myself eating anything and everything I can get my hands on. Eating seconds and thirds. I have never been like this before. I dont ever feel full. My mind must think I will not be eating anything after the surgery.

I have got to stop this way of eating so I can get on track for my surgery and for what is to come after.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
