How Often Is It Safe To Go For A Fill?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I'm new here..:)

I've had my surgery done about two months ago- at the moment I have 8 cc filled and still do not feel any restriction.

I've had my last fill a week ago and was wondering if it is safe to have another one tommorow?

I can go see my doctor tommorow but don't want to go through the trouble if it is not safe to have another fill so soon.

I would really appriciate any answers:)

Thanks!

Your doc will only give you one if he/ she feels its ok. Mune, however, will only fill about every 4-6 weeks.

This is a question that needs to be answered by your surgeon...and their decision will be based on several factors, such as the amount of weight you have recently lost, how rapidly after a meal you are feeling hunger, and if you are still able to tolerate meat. This is my surgeon's criteria.

My surgeon will not do a fill sooner than every 6 weeks...no exceptions.

Hi Amber, I have not had a fill however, from reading through the threads about fills I have heard many people post that sometimes after a fill it can take a little while to kick in, sometimes even a few weeks. Maybe you should give it some time before considering, the worst you want to do is have an over fill, I heard that is the worst feeling ever!

Wish I could be more helpful...

My surgeon told me today on my first fill, every 6 weeks, no sooner.

I have appointments once a month to check my progress and determine whether a fill is necessary.

I go monthly, but my doctor will fill as soon as two weeks. (depending of course!!)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
