Hope all of you post-ops are doing well. I am very sore, but doing pretty good. I got banded on Monday and slept in a chair. Last night I slept in my bed. Still on Clear Liquids until tomorrow. Cream of Wheat sounds mighty good right about now.

Being banded on Friday at 7:30am. Just heard from the practice manager that I am approved by Aetna. Have to say that the surgeon's office team is outstanding to work with. Good luck to everyone being banded this week! :P

Does anyone's scale at home read different than the doctors office or hospital? I just bought a digital one offline and it reads 6lbs higher that the doctors!! I feel kinda depressed about this.. I know i haven't gained since Monday but woow i was so excited to check.. Does anyone else have this issue?

My doctor said that right after surgery he expects his patients to gain about 5-6 pounds. It's our bodies trying to heal itself. I gained 6 pounds, but it is coming off. Doctor said he doesn't worry about weight until after week post-op appointment.

Yeah, pre surgery the docs scale made me at least 2 pounds heavier than my home one.

Jess,

I was told that we would be swollen after for a while and would retain Water so anything you weight now will drop off quickly because it is only water.

My gas is still crazy. Prob because I'm back to work and don't move around as much as I should had I stayed home a week.

So very emotional right now. My surgery is scheduled for Oct. 18th and they just called and said they may have to push it back a week because a proctor has to be there that can't be there. I've been on the liquid diet since Oct 3 and scheduled my time off from work for 2 weeks from the surgery date. I am really really upset. (just had to vent a litte)

Hi fellow October bandsters!! I had my surgery on Oct 3rd 2012' date=' I am still recovering and in alot of pain! I was at the ER last night with terrible pain on my left side! After blood test and xrays they said I have pleurisy which is when the diaphragm is inflamed and it rubs the lining on your lungs. So the gave me a dose of morphine and motrin and gave me extra perscription for Loratab! Every time i take a deep breath on my left side I feel this intense sharp stabbing pain.!! Today its a little better but it is still uncomfortable!! But the positive way of thinking is that I have lost 17 pounds since I started my 2 week pre op diet. And 35 since I started my 6 mo pcp visits with my doc! Thanks for listening[/quote']

Wow! Congrats!! Sorry for your complications:( (but yay pain meds lol) Be positive and think about how great you'll look and feel SOON;)

Wow, that really sucks. Is it at all possible to reschedule the work time off? Good luck to you.

New here!!! I'm a sleeve converter. I was planning on getting the sleeve and insurance denied me for that. So I am back in the process for the band. My date is Oct. 23!! Preop diet has started and I'm inching closer to my new life.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
