Wow - Finally Got My Date - October 16Th

Recommended Posts

Having surgery next month on Tuesday October 16th with Dr. Kuri. Kind of scary to be honest ....but I've researched him and the facility enough to know everything is top notch. My brother lost over 270lbs with the lapband and I"ve researched this forum for 2 years...so I feel at ease with this decision.

I still can't believe I'm going to Mexico to get this surgery. It's the IMAGERY OF THE THING....that is hard to overcome. I'm sure many of my family and friends think I'm nutso....but that is ok (lol).

But I know where my head is at (used to run 15 miles a week and be extremely disciplined) but life just hit me....and stressed me out to a point where I've gained 90 lbs (originally 205 in 2005 and now weight 295). I'm 38 and not trending very well....AND I'M NOT PRIDEFUL TO ADMIT...that I need a tool to help reduce this weight.

Let your mercy, wisdome, courage and grace cover and guide me Lord :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
