The pre-op diet seems tough at times, but you have to keep thinking that it is for a reason. In a week or so you'll have the surgery, isn't that what you've been working for? It is worth the deprivation for a week to get the results. Drink 2 Protein Shakes a day. They fill you up enough for a long time, so you don't feel the need to eat. Remember ....you have a goal! The surgery.....you can do it!!!

What did " 1 shake for breakfast & ate outside my diet for supper" come down to?? No lunch???

I really don't know what to say, other than I hope it works out for you. Sometimes a mistake doesn't matter and sometimes it means no surgery. I hope in your case it mean it didn't matter.

My only thought is, if you can't follow pre-op are you going to be able to follow post-op? It's really important that you follow your Doctor's instructions to work your band. This is not a magic bullet, it's a choice to work your band according to your Doctors instructions.

I hope & pray for the best for you!!

The pre-op diet is not normal and very difficult. You have a regular stomach and you have to drink just a few shakes. Not fun. So you cheated. Just get back on track and get your liver in the best shape possible.

The pre-op diet helps you to get your liver more solid and less fatty, which helps the surgeon place the band because he has to lift it to reach the stomach. However, each surgeon has their own protocol. Some say liquids 3 weeks prior. Some say a week or less (I had 5 days). My mother only had one day Clear Liquids and she definitely had a fatty liver and was ok.

Do your best and be honest with your doctor as to how you cheated. You will likely be ok. Just try to give yourself the best chance for success from now on.

Oh sweetie.... I know how you feel. I hope everything is okay, just wake up tomorrow and do better. And try really hard to change your mindset, it's why diets and trying to eat properly have never worked for us in the past. We eat 3 potato chips and then figure we're big fat pigs that aren't worthy of being healthy and happy. One tiny mistake isn't the end of the world.... Just try really hard to keep your goal in front of you at all times. You will be fine.... You'll find great support here! :-)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
