Haven't had a minute since I got back to work to report on my first post-op doctor follow up. My doctor is happy with my progress and the way everything is healing. He checked my port site, asked how I was feeling, told me I can go back to the gym (as long as I wait a couple more weeks to start the core exercises), I should start solid food this weekend and he'll see me in 2 weeks for my first fill. He did tell me my port is a little deeper than they normally place them and that they might need the x-ray machine to fill it, but he said it isn't a big deal. I'm happy that I'm down 15.5 pounds from my first visit to his office (June 22) and 12 pounds from the date of surgery (August 24). Boy, I'm looking forward to something other mushy potatoes, cream of wheat, and grits!!!

great job! it does get better after you get to normal food just be careful remember that the opening to your pouch is small and things can get stuck if you don't chew chew chew

Thanks for the advice! I'm very excited and can't wait to see where I am in 2 weeks when I go back. I've refused to get a new scale, so I'm really excited for the possibility that my old bathroom scale will work once I get under 300.

that's awesome! it will work soon! Don't rely on what the scale says to measure how you are doing... yes the numbers going down are awesome but look for the NSV's (non scale victories) like your clothes fitting better, being able to tie your own shoe, crossing your legs, the double chin becoming just one chin lol.... i know we rely on numbers so much (me too) but try to look at the whole picture not just what the scale says :)

Totally looking at the non-weight factors too. Just nice to see a smaller number for a change. Hang in there Rocio! IMHO, the pre-op diet is the worst part so far. If you can do that, you can make it over the other hurdles we all face.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
