B-12 Injections

Recommended Posts

My surgeons office offers B-12 injections. Does anyone else get them? If so, do they help you?

I took them last year. I wasn't banded, but I'm assuming the band wouldn't make much of a difference. They didn't do much for me. I wouldn't pay a lot for them. Just my personal opinion.

If you are struggling meeting your nutrition demands, they wouldn't be a bad idea. The B-12 injections are a supplement and nothing more. They help keep your energy up.

I now HAVE to take them now. I took B12 pills when I was banded and for me there is a big difference between the injections and the pills. I actually do my own injections (with a prescription from my doctor). The prescription only costs $5 a month. I can definately tell if I'm late or don't take mine when I should...my energy and mood drop (big time). My husband says I get "hormonal" - lol

I became B12 deficient as well as anemic. I have never felt so bad and tired all the time. Since upping my Iron supplement and taking B12 shots I feel better. If you are getting what you need don't get the shots but if you start feeling bad get a blood test to see what you level is.

I should add that I got them for Energy. I'm glad to see that they gave others much energy! =)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
