Back To Old Habits And Dont Know What To Do, Help??

Recommended Posts

Sure you know what to do.

1. Clean the crap out of your house

2. Stock up on good quality lean and solid Proteins and veggies

3. Cut out liquid calories (or empty calories)

4. Plan your meals and Snacks and eat when it is time, stop when you have eaten your portion of 1 cup of food (eating slow/no drinking)

5. Get some exercise (do what you can as every step helps)

Do one of these, or 2 or all 6

There are no big secrets for what works .......but only you can do it.

(feel free to add on your suggestions)

Talk to your surgeon or nutritionist. They have so much knowledge for you to tap into.

Keep a food diary and activity log (or use Fitness Pal to log). I think often people feel they are active or eating appropriately and in "denial" of the truth or don't realize the reality of the situation. Logging it, will help you assess where you are really at and where you should focus on improvements. Don't beat yourself up for a "bad day", build a bridge, get over it and back on the right path.

Also, reach out to others for support. We have all gone through a lot of similar struggles and triumphs. Getting support, encouragement or a needed kick in the a$$ can do wonders!!

Find what works for you. We all enjoy different activities and foods. Make yourself a priority. I remember always putting myself last to make sure my kids or others were taken care of until I learned that by making myself the priority we all "win" and benefit. I am a better mom and fiance when I am happy and feeling good about myself, when I have the energy to keep up with my family and am excited about doing things and enjoying life.

This LB lifestyle isn't a punishment! It is a gift!!

Another key point that I read while doing some research is that those who actually measure their portion sizes rather than "eyeball" the portion for accuracy are more successful with weight loss.

Another example of the eyes being larger than the stomach (or pouch)!

Definitely support! Get with people who support you on this journey, regardless of their understanding of WLS or need to lose weight. My husband has been beside me every step of the way.

I feel that the real reason we let ourselves stumble in the first place is because we're not honest with ourselves.

Being honest with other people is easy. Being honest with ourselves is what's brutal. There is no room for white lies

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
