Severe Pain

Recommended Posts

Please help I woke up with severe pain in my lower chest area like in the middle and I'm wondering of it has anything to do with the band? I haven't eaten in maybe 6 hours. The pain I can feel it go through and even hurt in my back. I have ha something like this once before. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I went to the ER the first time this happened a few weeks ago and they said it wasn't my heart. So now I'm lying in bed wondering what to do.

It sounds like it could be gall bladder or something similar. However don't mess around with it, just because it wasn't your heart last time doesn't mean that it isn't this time. You need to get checked out.

What Elcee says. That sounds similar to the pain I had with my gallbladder, but I'd go get it checked out.

I am going through the same thing. I don't have a gallbladder. I also went to ER the first time it happened. I went through test and was told it was not my heart. That was in May and I have had the pain again several time. My pain is between my breast and between my shoulder blades. They told me to see my primary care provider and she put me on nexium twice a day. That has not helped. I am open for suggestions too.

I do not know what to answer except since I got banded, when I feel pain anywhere in my stomach area, I take milk of magnesia and clear everything out and then feel fine. I do not know if because i am so short wasted or what it all crunches together. Sat. however, i had shooting pain after a BP- and trying to see why I have no restriction now..???

I have similar pain but does not last as long and I am being tested this week for gallbladder. Have them check your gallbladder.

Thank you everyone for the replies...it is still hurting today it's not severe pain it's more moderate. I called and talk to my regular doctors nurse and she is supposed to call me back hopefully soon. I guess I should have added some details I was banded on may 24th 2012 and I only have .5cc in my band yes that's .5cc not 5. I am also wondering if it could be a slip? But since I have hardly anything in my band I'm wondering of a slip is even really possible.

So I saw my pcp today and she says I need my gallbladder out and that was the cause of the pain.

Did you know that even if you have had your gallbladder out, you can still form stones I "the ducts". It is the same pain. Ask your primary care giver.

Wow I did not know this

Absolutely! Years after my initial gall bladder surgery, I had one "stuck"in a duct. I was very ill and jaundiced, whole deal. I was in ICUS for over a week. They FINALLY diagnosed it with simple scan. They leave ducts in with just gall bladder surgery as I understand it.

That's a good thing. Trust me, you don't want to deal with a hernia gone bad. I just had emergency surgery on Sunday for a strangulated hernia. It's not fun.

Good I'm glad everything is ok and it's just strained chest muscle. I think the gallbladder attack irritated my stomach because my band seemed a lot tighter that day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
