Just When You Think You've Got The Band All Figured Out......

Recommended Posts

The syringes have marks for tenths of a cc. You would think that small amount wouldn't make a difference, but it does. I was amazed.

You said that you had a fill of 0.02cc, which is 2/10 of a 10th. I get 0.2cc fills, which is 2/10th of a cc. There are markers for the 10th of a cc (0.1cc) but I don't think it would be possible to get less than 0.1cc or so accurately.

I was trying to ask if you'd possibly made a typo of 0.02cc and meant 0.2cc.

Sorry I put an extra zero in. I meant to say .2cc, sorry about the confusion.

Same thing happened to me last weekend. Had a .25 fill on Thursday, did liquids Friday, Soft mushies on Saturday. Went for scrambled eggsand broccoli (bad decision) for Breakfast instead of my usual Protein shake and OH NO....that started the day. I irritated my band enough that I couldn't keep anything but liquids down at all on Saturday. Sunday was better, have been fine ever since. Even though it wasn't the reason this past weekend, my hubby and I went hiking a few weeks ago in the mountains (we live at about 4,000 ft and hiked at about 10,000 ft and I couldn't eat at all. Could feel my band get tighter even without eating when we were up at that altitude.

Pretty wild - who woulda thought?

That's why my dietician said it was important to journal, so you can go back and see what aggravated you.

The importance of keeping a journal!

Thanks everyone for all your comments, I learn something new everyday. Just seeing everyone going through the same things I go through makes me feel that there is a solution for everything. Thanks again...

I am 2 & 1/2 years out and STILL experience this from time to time. It never really gets easier to eat the unforgiving foods when you're tighter (unless of course you force it/ stretch your pouch or "prime" your pouch by drinking alot first-- all of which are bad habits.) Once you've PB'd the first time for the day figure your band wasn't ready for whatever it was you ate-- even if its your usual diet foods, and jus go to liquids for at least the next 8 hours to give it a chance to recover. PBing can easily become forceful vomiting if the gag reflex kicks in (experienced this at 2yrs out) and this wreaks havoc on the band for days to come and in some cases cause band slips. Good job paying attention to your body and your band.

I always say my band is like a toddler!!!! You just never know what may make it get out of kilter!!!! I find the heat can do it, laying down, excitement or tension, eating too fast, too much, too big of bites, or sometimes just because....a toddler. Today is rough for me, I think my navy bean Soup is troubling me maybe the skin on them doesn't agree but I just need to take it easy. Who knows tonight I just might be able to eat my baked chicken....Scwanns is so tender!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
