Hi all, this is my first post on here but I've been reading for a while now. I had my band placed on Thursday 8/9, got home from the hospital last night. The only real pain that I've been having is this pain when I take deep breaths, they said it was normal but how long does this last? Also, I know I need to stay hydrated but I am so scared to drink to much. I just don't want to over do it and get sick! I was really nauseas yesterday so I am paranoid of throwing up! The doc that discharged me (a resident, not my surgeon) gave pepcid to take, not even sure why he gave it, anyone else take this post op? Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

I was banded yesterday 8/10 and feel rough too. I'm taking sips and soooo gassy. Also my left side still has stabbing pains. I came home

After though. Very scared of nausea.

Feel better.

I think the gas is the problem, maybe TMI but I started to pass gas so I guess that's a good sign! Lol. I'm going to try to walk a lot today, hopefully that helps. I walked a few hours after surgery and I think I over did it, thought for sure I was gonna throw up but I had the nurse give me IV zofran. I made sure I got a script for that for coming home! I have to have some Protein Shakes today, hope that goes ok. Thanks for the input and good luck!

I was banded on 8/08/12. Extremely sore in shoulder and neck. I also feel a pulling sensation when I get up from laying or sitting. I also had a hiatal hernia and umbillical hernia fixed at the same time.

Day 4 post op and I am still very sore. My port is high under my right breast which is uncomfortable because I have to sleep in a bra or my breast irritates the incision. I still have gas pain in left should and neck the same as the day of surgery. I finally took some milk of magnesia today because the thought of a bm scared me to death. This could also be because of the umbilical and hiatal hernia that was fixed the same day.

Same here, still very sore. I was hoping not to be taking the pain meds for this long but I am still taking them.. Heating pad is helping some, also just got some gas-x so we'll see if that helps. I am still having a really hard time getting all of my fluids in, only one Protein Shake today... I do have some milk of mag on hand but haven't even needed it, no trouble going so I guess that's a plus! Lol. I think the hardest part of this is having to rely on people to help me take care of my daughter, she is 10 months old and it's killing me not being able to hold her and cuddle with her! Hope things get better for you soon!

We all sound the same! Sore and gassy! I skipped one dose of pain meds today but took them a bit ago to get comfortable for bed. I am staying at my parents house and my 3 kids are with their dad so I have had uninterrupted time to rest and heal but I am going home tomorrow so the party is over! I am on full liquids tomorrow which will be interesting. I feel so empty!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
