I Need Diet Help Please!

Recommended Posts

Diet aside, given the nasty and no doubt traumatic experience you've now escaped from, is there something you can do for yourself in terms of meditation, yoga or a holiday to reward yourself? I've often found taking the time to look after myself puts me in a better frame of mind and then the exercise and eating healthy habits tend to come much easier

I started gabapentin (for neuropathy) 3 weeks ago and have had no side effects. As I recall, edema is not a common side effect. The gabapentin isn't free, so if you have no medical insurance, how are you paying for it? Please tell me the neurologist isn't giving you "free" samples. If so, you need to find another career or learn how to say no. If my boss were a doctor who insisted I take Adderall (or any med, for that matter), I say, "OK," flush the meds, and report the doctor to the state licensing agency. If he stood over me to watch while I swallowed the meds, I would employ my secret bandster weapon and puke on him.

As for dealing with your weight...I really think you need to deal with everything else going on in your life first, but it might be helpful to attend some Overeaters Anonymous meetings.

Jean,

Gabapentin 300 mg is $24.00 for 30 days at the pharmacy around the corner so it is affordable. It went generic years ago and can't be sampled. My previous boss had called an internal medicine doctor's FIANCE and had me worked in. The IM doctor asked if I thought I was ADD and I told him I didn't think so. I am just friendly and have never met a stranger...LOL! Well he wanted to try me out on Adderal XR, then changed it to Adderal and kept increasing the dose until I was so wired that I couldn't see straight.

Really, I am ok. I just can't figure why I am gaining weight. Monday I will start the 5 day pouch test. Then regroup from there.

Wow, I'm speechless (almost), that you can write all that and not see something very wrong there.

You're gaining weight because you are coming off "speed" that you didn't need. If you were ADD you would not have had those side effects. It does the opposite to me.

You should start with a therapist. I have gone to one for my weight issues. Therapist can recommend a good shrink to combat any other issues you might have, but step away from the pharmacist and a GP to treat mental issues, they are not supposed to prescribe ADD meds anyhow. This is why pharmacy's are always out. From abusive doctors ant patients.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
