Help I have pain

I was banded on 01/01/2006 and have been doing great loseing weight almost 30 lbs and have been able eat most anything just not much of it. Suddenly out of the blue I have developed pain on my left side about at my belly button level. It feels like a pull and it is sore. This is the first pain I have had. I think it is to low for port pain??? I have noticed that food seems to get stuck now where it did not before. Anyone else hsd this. The pain gets better with Advil but does not go away. Has anyone else had something like this. I did pick up my grandson a couple of times he weighs 28 lbs but I should not have to worry about that right? I hear a lot of talk about slippage could this have happened???? How do you know? I am going to the Doc on tuesday.

Slippage wouldn't occur around your belly button, that's not where the band is and it can't slp that far down... the belly button is in the intestinal area.

Perhaps it's not band-related. You could have strained a muscle, perhaps?

I'm too newly banded to really speculate about what it could be. All I can advise is that if you're in enough pain to warrant pain relievers, you're doing the right thing by going to see your doctor! Best wishes with your visit!

Sometimes, the port can be pulled and become tender, especially if you've exercised more than you're used to, or by lifting, etc. This could very well be your port/tubing causing you a bit of pain. I've had it many times over the past few years, but it generally rights itself after a few days. Definitely contact your doc if this doesn't seem to be the case.. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
