Going To Need A Lot Of Support

Recommended Posts

Im getting my band on Monday aug 6th. Happy cant wait. But I will be the first for my Dr. I'm fine with that because now we have someone in our town that can help. But he only understands the books. I have learned so much on here I didn't know and I'm thankful for it. Thank you all

I assume you mean you will be the first for your GP rather than your surgeon? I think I am the first for my GP. She has been really supportive but I am sure she has learned more from me about the band, living with the band etc than I have from her! That's why it is so important to maintain an ongoing relationship with my surgeon.

Good luck.

No my surgeon. that's right I'm so happy he is only 1 1/2 miles from me and his nurse calls me all the time.

There has to be a first patient for everyone. You should receive a lot of special individualized care. That's got to be cool.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
