Any Thoughts?

Recommended Posts

i'm a little nervous... i'm 4.5 years post-op and have lost all my weight plus some i probably shouldn't have lost. i haven't been to my surgeon since my 2 year anniversary. the last 2 years i've been bulimic/anorexic leaning more towards bulimia for the most part until the last few months. i'm in therapy, i see a nutritionist and psychiatrist now and am slowly gaining weight but not enough. i decided to go see my surgeon and see how my band looks under flouro. if i haven't done some damage these past 2 years, i'll be surprised. i only have 4.5cc in my band now and i'm thinking of having some removed. i'd like to gain 15 pounds back. if you were me, how much would you have removed? my support team seems to think i shouldn't take any out since i weighed and maintained for months before i let my habits get out of control.

any thoughts?

I'm sorry, I don't have any advice for you, but I would like to offer support. Since surgery, I can completely see how someone becomes anorexic. I catch myself obsessing about food choices and have to remind myself over and over to relax, take it one meal at a time.

As far as having Fluid removed, I think I would go under the advisement of my surgeon.

I'm glad you're meeting with a therapist and it sounds like you have a good team and are headed in the right direction. I wish you nothing but success and happiness, and thank you for sharing your story.

thank you, jen... i appreciate your support. i never thought i'd go from obese to anorexic. every pound i gain back i have to use extreme will power to NOT purge and to continue to eat. the thing is... i was happy at 145 pounds and i don't know what triggered me to go on a weight loss bender so to speak. i make myself eat something every 2 hours... using my phone alarm as a reminder... but i can't seem to get above 120.

while my heart knows i look horribly thin my brain sees every pound gained as a failure.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
