Help with reflux

Recommended Posts

I need to know if perscription meds will help with real bad reflux? I am only on liquids and still get it. Never had it before my band. WIll smoking cause reflux? I smoke about a pack a day. The pain sems to be primarily ion my left side around my neck and shoulder and the middle of my chest. This not a heart attack, I have had 3 EKG's in the last 6 months, and everything was all good. I was banded on March 10th, 2006.

do you think it is reflux? it sounds like the gas problem that alot of us have experienced. reflux is heartburn. does it feel the same or does it feel like a heart attack?

Reflux is when the fluids from your stomach comes up in your throat. It's almost like regurgitating. Is that what you are experiencing?

It's possible that what your feeling is residual pain from the gas used in surgery. It pushes against the diaphram and the pain radiates into the chest, neck and shoulder.

And grats on your banding! :)

I guess that my pains are gas. I have had no problem with anything comming back up. Is there anything I can do about it?

just walk and toot, walk and toot! also try mylanta and sleep on your left side on a heating pad. that really helped me a lot. good luck and it does get better. i am two weeks out tomorrow and feel pretty damn good. you also might want to eat some steamed brocolli. that produces gas so it might get it moving for you too. i ate some at about a week out, i thought my husband was going to die heheheheheh!!! paybacks!

You are overeating and it is causing referred pain to your shoulder. Eat more slowly and don't over-fill your pouch.

I know this sounds crazy, but it's true. I learned it from my local support group shortly after I was banded, and they were right on target.

I was in a lot of pain from gas build-up last night that I tried a chewable Gas-X tablet. About 10 minutes into it I started to burp and expel gas from behind. The gas is all gone now and I feel great.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
