Unfill Then Refill

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had their doctor completely unfill them and then refill them to the same amount? It had been a year and 1.2 since surgery and everything has went well.

Why do you ask? Have you had a complete unfill? Why? Are you worried about some aspect of that?

I had a complete unfill to treat a band slip. I had to wait 6 weeks before starting the gradual process of adding back fill. Eventually my fill got back up to it's pre-unfill level.

You can order by clicking on one of the Bandwagon ads here on LBT (at the bottom of the page), or by going to http:jean-onthebandwagon.blogspot.com and choosing a purchase option (on the left hand side of the page).

My doctor has unfilled then immediately refilled my band to measure how much solution was in it. He keeps track every time he does an adjustment but did this to verify the amount.

Mine doctor also does this to make sure my band is working properly and to make sure nothing is leaking out and to double check on how much I actaully have

Yes, same as the other 2 people. My surgeon always removes and then puts back in, whatever. I am at the max not of my band, but what I can tolerate, but if I ask, he will pull out, and then try to pu tmore fill in. Usually ends up to be the same as I previously had! Karen

I was just wondering. My doctor did this the last time and did not really explain why, and I just act like I do not have a brain sometimes when I get to the doctor and didnt really ask any questions. I will next time I go. I guess it was just to make sure the amount he had listed was correct. I was not having any problems and still sm not I go back soon. I didnt know if this was a normal procedure ever so often or not . Thanks................

I was banded in March 2009 and have been losing weigh really good well in October 2011 I flew to Colorado and my band seem to be tighter well I could not eat or drink the entire week I was there. I lose 17lbs. The following week I went in to see my doctor and was defilled, well I am now back at the same amount of cc's and still can not lose weigh again. Any advice

Having the same amount of fill restored to your band doesn't guarantee the same degree of restriction, unfortunately. For one thing, you lost 17 lbs just before that unfill, and when you lose weight, the fat clinging to your stomach shrinks, so your band feels looser (something you didn't notice because you were dealing with extreme tightness from the stress, etc. of your trip. Maybe you just need another fill. The best person to ask is your surgeon.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
