A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?

Recommended Posts

I fill like I am going to give up. I got the band in july 24th 2006 and all I have lost is from 413 to 392. really...i have tried cutting my calories that it seems the only way for me to even loose weight is to go back on broth like after surgery. i wanted to see if it was me so i ate extremely healthy and im sure my calorie intake was wayyyyyyyyy less then normal... what should i do... I really am feeling like a failure.

Well let us see. Do you exercise, drink your Water, what and when do you eat, have you had your thyroid checked? Just to start with. Are you an optimist or a pesimest. (sp sucks)

I eat well during the day but at night i eat little debbies, or some sort of sugar.... but i thought i new i had a problem but if i didnt eat alot of calories during the day i might be ok with eating the sugar(but im trying to quit) its like i crave it. like my head plays games.

on the excercise topic i only walk about a half mile a day.....

I am trying to get a personal trainer.... but it is costly.... or either a treadmill.... just something...

Oh good you have answered your questions right there. Count the calories of your little debbies, by the way I love them and they are so inexpensive. I won't buy them anymore because a box only last one day in my house or should I say a few hours. It sounds like you need to start journaling your food and 1/2 mile is not enough. Come on to LBT bootcamp and let's get this stuff off together.

MourningFuneral, you need to get a handle on exactly what you ARE eating. I second Teresita's recommendation that you start journaling your food. And I mean every last thing you put in your mouth, including the precise amount. Get yourself a food scale and use it. Research the nutrient breakdown so that you can see how you're doing with calories, Protein, fats, carbs (especially sugars). If you do this carefully for a few weeks, you will find yourself making much better food choices!

Morning... make sure that you get in Protein (my doc says 78 g) Water and exercise everyday. If you must snack at night choose high protein low sugar Snacks. Sugar is addictive and it just makes you crave more sugar. I am going to boot camp...hope to see you there.

It doesn't hurt! If you were having blood drawn for a blood test, the needle would be inserted into a vein. But for a fill, the needle just *pricks* the skin and then it's in the port, where it doesn't hurt at all. Really! And if the size bothers you, don't look.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
