I Need A Lapband Buddy In Florida

Recommended Posts

Wow way to go Sue that's incredible in 8 months!!! It's hard for me right now with losing I have three small kids and my husband who are not over weight and I'm cooking for them. I try to eat under 1200 calories a day and track everything but I get busy and forget some days. Then other days I really want to be thin then I'm like we'll does it matter I've lost 135 pounds I look ok but not skinny I dunno my brain loves to play games with me. I'm just kinda staying around 210 to 215 right now. I'll be happy once I'm under 200 I think I would love for the scale to be 100s not 200s. Hopefully this year it will. But awesome job to you sue and Dennis you to great job on your weightloss!!

I am with you, I can't wait to see the 100's. I am headed out for vacation later in September and I was hoping to be down 100 pounds by then, and I accomplished that a month and a half early. I will be on a cruise for two weeks so I will really have to watch what I eat and figure out how to exercise since I will not be doing my normal routine!

TampaGina, congrats on your surgery. Remember everything is still going to look good. It is aprocess that you have to go through to find new things that look good too! When you get to the mushie stage, experiment with things you like and put them in the blender. Your fav meat, Soup, etc. That will help! Mushies include scrambled eggs, fish, most soft stuff. I used to grind up ham, chicken and make mush out of it. Didn't always look good but at least you got something with a little flavor. But don't forget to get all your Water in after you eat.

I know have a core menu that I stick to pretty much all the time so it is easier. You will get there!

Hi All,

I'm from Orange Park, just outside of Jacksonville. I was banded 4.26.12 and have lost 40lbs already. I was so happy to weigh myself last week and see 199lbs. I haven't seen that in 8 years. My dr gave me a fill last week and wow for the first time I fill "tight". What is everyone averaging a day in cal/ carb intake? My doc. Has me on a no starch no sugar diet. This has me going crazy. I'm a little confused how fruits can be bad for me. He explains a sugar is a sugar and it's not good for me. All I eat is Protein, veggies and my shakes. What is everyone else doing? Glad to find some Florida banders here...

Hi Yoly! It is always awesome to meet other Florida banders! Actually, you and I were banded exact same day! That is such a great feeling to meet and exceed one of your goals! I am still over 300 lbs and can't wait for the day I can say I weigh two hundred anything! I don't know about your surgeon, BUT mine is definitely not good at the diet and nutrition game! However, my support group has an excellent dietitian and he told the group, just this last week, that we should all be shooting for 1000 - 1200 calories per day, with Proteins being our first priority. I personally aim for 90-100 grams of Protein, less than 100 grams of carbs, 15-20 grams of Fiber, less than 100 grams of fat, and drink a minimum of 64 ounces of Water per day. While your doctor is correct, a sugar is definitely a sugar, you would want to select "better" sugars, such as fruits and veggies. He is worried about the starches and high carb foods turning into sugar in your system, so apparently he wants to control all sugar intake. Do you have diabetes or some other reason he is so sensitive about the sugar intake? There are too many great aspects of eating fruits, berries, and nuts to completely avoid them in a healthy diet!

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, I was on the LA Weight Loss diet. I was instructed to eat every two hours throughout the day. My diet plan included 18 ounces of Protein, 5 fruits, 5 vegetables, 2 fats, and 2 starches per day, along with my 64 ounces of Water. This caused my body's metabolism to increase, burn more calories, and I was healthier than I had been in years! The weight loss was slow, steady, and I lost a total of 135 pounds in slightly over one year! Case in point, natural sugars will not negatively affect your diet or your health in moderation. When you think about it, everything we do has to be in moderation or it will cause issues.

Well, it was nice meeting you this morning! Although it looks like Tropical Storm Isaac is heading more towards Louisiana and Texas, we still have to prepare for high water and winds here. I work at the Port of Panama City and they tend to take storm surges a little more seriously! LOL Take care and I will talk to you soon!

Dennis

Hey Yoly, I live in Orange Park too! I was banded 1/30/12. My NUT says only eat when hungry, eat healthy and don't worry about Protein or calories right now. I eat two meals a day with one snack for about 500 calories! It's crazy, but I am down 107 pounds.

Who is your surgeon. Mine is Dr. Uchal. I had my surgery at St. Vincents. We will have to get together!

I live in Palm Bay i.e. the space coast.

I have always been heavy since my teenage years. Always lost and gained the weight back and some more. I would live to make buddies that can be part of my new journey. I was at my highest 206 when I decided to do the lap band. I am 5ft so that put me at 40 BMI. So far I have lost 12 pounds...4 ponds since the pre op diet. Today is the 6th day of it and get banded on the 27th.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
