After 4 Years I'm Almost To My Goal Weight!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone my name is Sharmon I was banded sept 2008 and in an auto collision Dec2008 that caused 4 anular tears at 4 levels. At that time I had already lost 30 lbs then came the physical pain and depression I had to deal with. I spet 2 1/2 years just making it day to day drinking protien 26g 2xs per day and 3 meals (not very much) my activity level was very limited due to the pain so I did what I could slowly. 14 mos ago I went and had a fill. I believe I have a 10 cc band and a 7cc fill but it was and is tight still. I started walking through the pain upwards of 2 turtle miles drinking Water water water Protien shakes Optimum 26g per scoop. Up to 3 scoops per day and 3 small protien with protien

N some veggies. I started at 315 lbs I'm 5 11 the last I weighed was 202 lbs. it is still a journey but well worth it. The difficult part for me is having daily back pain and excersize but I just still do my turtle miles and what I can do around my home. I never thought I could get this weight off Now I can get up and put on anything clothing that I own and it fits. Sometimes they are too big. :). The band is the hardest but best thing I ever did for myself. Would I do it again? Somedays I say no because I'm an emotional eater but after fighting myself and winnin I say YES I WOULD DO IT AGAIN. So hang in there people. You will see progress!

You are awesome...and a true inspiration for me! I can so relate to your challenges with exercise and trying to recover from injuries sustained in a car accident.

I had to delay my band surgery for over a year due to unexpected medical complications...and recovery from a near fatal car accident with multiple pelvic fractures was one of those unanticipated medical events.

That accident has left me with impaired ability to walk the long miles which I used to do and enjoy...and without meloxicam to assist with keeping the joint pain tolerable I have to get my exercise in the pool with Water aerobics classes. I admire you to be able to tough it out through the pain. I've tried, and just can't do it; it's still painful for me to drive.

I hope to someday reach my goal weight...I know it will take more than a year for me, but I'm encouraged that I'm a bit more than half way there.

Best Wishes...

Awesome!! Slow and steady wins the race!! We are almost band-date twins, by a month. I'll be 4 years out on October 23rd. Congratulations on you for keeping it together and never giving up!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
