Does anyone else find themselves hesitant at participating in activities that they would have found exhausting or possibly awkward prior to losing a pretty good chunk of weight???

I took my daughter to the Water park yesterday, which is nothing new, however she asked me, no, BEGGED me to ride the 'lazy river' with her...I hesitated, and actually told her 'no'..because prior to losing the 43 lbs that I have since surgery, the simple act of walking across the park to that area would have exhausted me...

Well, I took a minute to observe what this would entail, the floats, the other ppl that were over there, and I thought, oh, I got this!!! So I told her yes...we went over, and had the BEST time!! I just have to remember that the limitations that once kept me at bay don't exist anymore...gotta get outta my head :)

I just went to a concert Saturday night (Kelly Clarkson and The Fray - rocked by the way :)), and there were the hard plastic rows of stadium seats. At 243 lbs, they were not comfortable - I felt like I was crammed into it. It felt GREAT to sit in it and not only feel comfortable (as comfortable as stadium seats are!) but have room to spare.

I did feel so badly though for a few ladies I saw that were very large and couldn't fit in the seats (one broke the seat). I wanted so badly to run up to them and share my lap band experience, but I didn't want to offend them.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
