I am 5'4 and I started at 218 three and a half months out. The doctor said about 160 for my final weight.I was hoping for 130 something. Am I being realistic?

we are close to being in the same boat. i am 5-1 and 207 on consult day. Dr. Spivak told me that he things i only need to lose 50 lbs or so. i disagree. i am thinking about 65 lbs or so. have you downloaded the fitness chart? I cannot remember where i downloaded it from, but you take several measurements and such, and the program calculates your estimated percent body fat, lean mass, etc. My muscle weight was 146lbs. i think i would look very similar to a football player if i was 5-1, 146 lbs.

good luck to ya!!

I started out about the same. I set an initial goal of 150. Now that I am close to that, I'm thinking I can go down to 145. If I get there, I'll try for 140. I'm setting little mini-goals to keep myself motivated. I would love to go down to 130. If it happens, I would be so happy. If it doesn't, then I will be content with where I'm at. I don't think your goal is unrealistic. But I think mini-goals are a great start and a way to keep yourself motivated. I know that at some point, I'm gonna have to step it up and do more exercise to continue to lose weight. I think you can get there, but it might take more than just the band to get there. But if you set your mind to it, it can be accomplished. Good luck:)

I started at 221. I'm 5'3''. I set my goal at 135 based upon what would be a good BMI. I've weighed less than 135 before, and looked horribly thin (I'm pretty busty regardless of weight), so I may stop before I hit 135 if I think I look "just right" at some point before that (wouldn't that be great!).

I weighed in at 175 this Monday. I've been pleased with my progress. If I only make it to 150, I'll be happy, but I'm giving myself at least 1 1/2 years to make it to goal. I have not exercised as I should since my surgery, but I have stayed pretty good on keeping my calorie intake around 1200 or less.

Started at 244 on 8/14/03 at 5' 5" and I'm currently 163!!! a size 10, I even went down a shoes size to 8 1/2.

It took me 31 months.

My goal is 157, it was 144 but it just seems to unrealistic.

I am 5'5 and I started at 289. Dr.Ortiz gave me a goal of 138-145. I am about 6 1/2 months post op and am down to 199. I am not sure if the goal he gave me is realistic or not....the last time I weighed 138 I was in high school and I looked pretty skinny. I would be happy to get to 145 -150.

Good luck!

I am 5'4" and medium/small framed. I started at 229. My doctors goal is 145, which is the highest weight for a normal BMI at 5'4". Anything under 150 will make me happy. I was around 125 in high school, but my body was very different then. I was 145ish when dating my husband in my mid 20s and look back at pictures and think that was a good weight for my build. 160 is still considered overweight at 5'4". I dont think a lower goal weight is unrealistic at all.

I am sort of "playing it by ear." I set a 150lb goal, but I am taking it 10 pounds at a time. I'm 194 now and set my goals small and realistic with "wiggle room." My next goal is 193 by April 1st. I'll make that with no problem. Next goal will probably 183 by June 1.

I was 222 and barely 5 ft tall. I am now 138 (after 15 1/2 months) and fully expect to get below 120 sometime this year.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
