Third Fill Hell!!!

Recommended Posts

On Tuesday, I went for my third fill and now have 4.6ccs in a 10cc band. For whatever reason, i am thinking that i can eat more and everything is coming up. When i eat slow and take my time then everything goes down. is it that i have to get use to my much smaller stomach or is this thing too dang tight? My doctor stated on Tuesday that I was wide open and i needed a fill. Well now on a small portion can go down. Please help me.

You have a smaller stomach and need to devlope a new way of eating, this is exactly what is supposed to happen. If you can drink warter and chew your food well enough for it to go down then you are on your way to success. I would give it a week to get comfortable with the new restriction and if it becomes to unbearble then call your doctor and get an appointment.

Thank you very much because this is giving me the blues. Everytime I eat more then i can feel the watering of my mouth and nothing stays down. Guess i can't eat a cup of food anymore but now have to concentrate on a half of cup and deal with it. My husband did tell me that I chew extremely fast so I guess I better learn from him. This is so hard but I will get it and probably won't get anymore fills.

Your post reads to me that you have to adjust your eating speed and patterns to match your new level of restriction in your band. If your band was too tight, you would not be getting any food into your stomach, or you would be PB'ing or sliming. You have already recognized that you can eat your meals when you slow down.

Different doctors have their own patient instructions; I was advised that every meal should consist of only 3oz of a lean Protein and 2 oz of a Fiber carb choice. You should to eat the Protein first, as it is more important for proper nutrition, and then eat the carbs.

I was also advised to never let a meal last beyond 20 minutes.

Best wishes...

For the first couple of weeks after my last fill I was having a really hard time and thought I was overfilled. Once I finally got it in my head that I have to eat really slow, and take time between bites, I've been fine. I eat very little now, probably half a cup or less at meals. I'm making sure I get my Protein in and taking my Vitamins daily and am feeling really, really good! Hang in there!!

Sounds like you are just eating too fast. It was one of the hardest habits I had to break.

Good Luck!

I have a tendency to take too big of bites and not chew enough. As we get more restricted with our fills, those chewing and size rules are sure going to have an impact on how we feel. Good luck.

I learned my fast eating in the Army. In basic training, if u didnt eat in 5 mins, u didnt eat. 12 yrs later i still have trouble slwoing doqn. Especially when Im starving.

Dont let urself get too hungry that u wolf it down

Good luck

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
