ousooner..that is amazing...did you exercise? i am just getting into the exercising and it REALLY seems to help.

for the skin elasticity question..i have lost and gained my whole life and my skin was always pretty good at coming back into shape...until now...i am 43 and will definetely need some surgery...i think for me it is my age...although my sis (47) is losing and hers is not as bad.

best of luck all!

Thanks guys. I think the key to my success so far is what I am eating. I have adheared to a strict low carb/low fat/high protien diet. I also eat until I am no longer hungry instead of eating till I am full. That is a huge difference. I am more active, but until about a month ago, I did not have an excercise routine. I joined a gym after christmas and work out abou 4 or 5 days a week. I mainly do treadmill. I am working on running a 5K for Labor day in September. I also do a little ab work on the machines.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
