.... And I feel like garbage!! But hanging in there.

Can barely get through an ounce of water/Gatorade when I wake up. Everything feels sooooo tight. Please assure me this is normal!

I'm just sleeping and sleeping. Ugh! Words of encouragement needed.

Yeah...I had that for the first couple of days. Trust me you will feel loads better a couple days from now. And sleep as much as your body tells you too, I slept like crazy and always felt better everytime I got up.

Sounds like gas. Its the worst effect of the surgery. I chewed a lot of gas x the first week. I also found that putting a hot compress on my shoulders helped. Walking is the best way to speed up the recovery as it helps with your circulation and pumps all the gas out.

Hey!! I'm five days banded and yes yes yes. I phoned my surgeon about the pain when I breathed in the second day. He assured me it was normal. And I slepttttttt likes nobody's business. Lol. Your body needs that right now. It needs to recover. If your getting fluids in, even if it's small, that's good... just keep at it! Your going to do great!!! Each day you will feel much better.

I'm concerned that you are not even able to get 1oz of Water down. Please call your surgeon in the morning if you still can't get fluids down.

Great name "thunderbeast"

I was in pain for about two days. I'd call the doc about not being able to drink though. You don't want to mess with dehydration.

Take it easy!!!You just had major surgery. But, walk as much as possible, it will relieve your gas. Take Gas-x if needed and pain meds as needed. But I assure you, it is entirely normal. You are not expected to drink a whole ounce at one time, sipping is what you should be doing. I have had my band for almost 3 years, and there are many times I can't drink a whole ounce at one time! But walk, walk, walk, and sip, sip, sip!!!Best wishes, and welcome to Banderland!!Karen

Thanks guys! I'm feeling loads better than when I posted the gas x really made a difference for me. Getting my ounces down slowly but surely. Still in disbelief that this has actually happened!!! :) thanks for everyone's support.

Yes that happened to me as well. I was banded last Friday and when I woke for anesthesia I told them to take it out immediately bc I felt it. They gave me some pain meds and I fell asleep. Followed by waking to that rib pain. I understand how you feel. It gets much better. But sleep sleep sleep is good right now. U, like myself, are learning we can just jump up and be the same. It takes a bit . U will be great and healthy.

Congrats. You will feel better soon. The gas pains are the worst part. All your feeling is normal. I was banded May 31st & felt super tight for about 3 days. Keep sleeping & drinking.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
