:faint: I am two weeks post op today on band surgery and gall bladder removal. And 10 days post op on gall bladder 2nd surgery. I have been blown up twice in the past 2 weeks. I have gas pains that have gas pains. My abdomin feels and looks huge. I have a problem with the gall bladder removal. It seems there was a micro-scopic tiny 2nd duct from my livery to the gall bladder that was not detected by ultra-sound. So after severe pain and fever for several days, they found it thru cat scans. Anyway a patch job was done and lots of demerol later, I'm back to work and feeling very very tired and sore.

I have alot of back pain. I was wondering if anyone experienced back pain after surgery. I know it can't be from gall bladder, I don't have one anymore. Maybe it's from the gas? Or maybe just from sitting upright again after being down for so long?

I have dropped 19 pounds according to my scales at home. But I was to sick to eat for a week. The only thing was IV fluids. Just now going to mushies. Nothing but liquids til today. I'm sure wt loss will slow.

When will this gas pain end????

Donna,

The only thing I can tell you to do is walk as much as possible. The gas pains still come after 10 months today, not as bad as in the beginning but they are still there. Walking does help so do try that, but it's definately coming from being banded.

Congrats on the weight loss!

Donna, you poor thing! Is there anyway you can take a few more days off of work? Your body went through a lot, and it sounds like you need to rest, and as NaturalBeauty said, walk as much as you can. My gas pains went away after about 2 weeks, but it's going to vary from person to person. Hang in there - it will get better every day. (((HUGS)))

Thanks Anne and Natural Beauty - I will try walking more. I have felt so bad, that I find it very hard to walk. I guess I just have to push a little more.

Donna - You poor thing! So glad that you are on the other side and doing better. Sounds like you had a time of it!

I had very bad back pain after surgery. Right in the middle of my back. From the minute I remember being awake in recovery I had the pain.

My dr. said it can happen. All I know is that it was painful and I still get it sometimes.

Not to scare you, but it will take time to heal. Don't push yourself. You have had some very serious surgery. Like others say, this was a MAJOR surgery...at least to our bodies!

Hang in there. I just know that you will continue to feel better each and every day!

WOW! :) You poor thing. Technically three surgeries in a matter of 2 weeks?!

I can imagine the gas has you all bloated up and it wouldn't be unheard of for it to settle in your back. Mine was mostly in my shoulders and chest.

I agree with the others' advice, walk when you can. It will help the body re-absorb the gas. I've also heard chewable gas-x helps although I never tried it. Maybe you need more time for your body to heal. This was an unforeseen complication as well as a second surgery that was only 10 days ago. Depending on your job and circumstances, I would think you should be allowed more time to recouperate.

Here's wishing you good luck and Hope that the gas dissipates.

Donna, my DW said that her PA told her to try taking Prilosec. If that didn't work, call them back (call your doctor) and her can prescribe something for the gas.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
