That Feeling Again...

Recommended Posts

I'm just shy of 2wks post band and I'm starting to get that feeling again. That feeling of hunger. It's not that deep desperate hunger but it is a twinge enough to get me eating.

Is this normal?????

My Breakfast went from 3ounces to now 5ounces. I used to be good on just eating lunch after that and now I need lunch and dinner and sometimes even a snack after.

All the meals are still very small portions as well as the snack but I'm concerned this isn't working anymore or I'm doing something wrong.

Lol, yes of course it's normal. You'll probably need several fills to get to the sweet spot. We got overweight because we like to eat. For me it wasn't about actual hunger. I over ate many times in the beginning (still do occasionally). I've lost 170 lbs and what I did was start to get into a routine of exercising (just walking in the beginning). I started to learn how to get in at least 60 grams of Protein a day so that I wouldn't lose any hair and so that my skin would keep its elasticity. I started to learn how not to beat up on myself when I over ate and I just got back to eating healthy. I started to learn how to really chew my food. You'll really need this skill later on as you get more fills. Be patient and kind with yourself. You are going to be fine.

That is very normal. You are lucky it took 2 weeks to start. I was hungry on day 2. LOL Once you start getting fills it will help. Just be patient and follow your doctor's instructions because you are still healing. Any weight loss before you have restriction is gravy. I had a tough time befor I started getting fills. I lost weight but it wasn't easy.

Good luck!

It's called "bandster hell". Until you get that one fill that gives you some restriction, you may have episodes of severe hunger. For me, I was hungrier after surgery than I was before surgery. This is a time for you to begin to train yourself to eat band smart. Eat nutritious foods and do not eat slider type foods. I know some doctors tell you to only eat 1/2 cup of food but for some of us that just isn't enough.

Once you are cleared to eat solid foods try to stick to veggies, salads, lean meats but try to eat till you are satisfied. If you eat nutritious food, you may not gain or lose during this phase. Keep up the fills.

Thank you do much for all the advice. I'm glad everything is working as it should be...even if it my hunger.

I'm going to stick to good choices and small portions. Hopefully I can keep what I've lost off.

I am in the same spot too. I lost some weight 2 weeks after surgery, but now that I am on regular foods, hunger is an issue. I have not had a fill yet, so no restriction.. means hunger and wanting to eat. I am trying to make better choices. I am a night eater.. a horrible thing.. still havent stopped completely, but I have cut it down and have brought better foods into the house for me to eat. It is hard. I have to think about not beating myself up over it. I didnt gain all this weight in a few weeks, so I know I am not going to lose it that quick either. My habits are 40 years old! They need time to change too!

Good luck and it will get easier!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
