I saw this on YouTube but was wondering from you guys: Ham or turkey roll ups with fat free cream cheese for a good source of Protein? Some people cut them in to pinwheels and I think some recipes call or chives??? A gastric bypass patient friend on Facebook of mine mentioned to look out for sodium content in the meat which is good to look out for but I was just trying to change up my menu and trying to get protein in. help.

sounds good. you know what might work as well? using laughing cow cheese instead of the cream cheese. might have to try that. :)

I just did ham and cheese in lettuce wraps for lunch the other day.

I would do that. again, pre-packaged meat has alot of sodium in it. would be something to eat as a quick on the go perhaps.

That sounds like a really yummy lunch! I also do a lot of rotisserie chicken (I buy them on sale, pick them, and then package them up in 3 oz servings) with either black or refried Beans. Yummy!

I just saw the nutritionist yesterday and she said some people have problems with rotisserie chicken because it usually drier. Just be careful if trying it for the first time.

if you buy quality sandwich meat, i don't see a problem. try to get a brand that is all natural with no preservatives. also, laughing cow cheese has a cream cheese now (it's new and i JUST found it). so yummy! i like adding a slice of Tomato to my roll-ups too :)

anoooother thing, if you happen to get a rotisserie chicken that's a little on the dry side: dip it in greek yogurt. i mix some ground onion, green onions, dill, and lemon juice in mine and it tastes delicious. the yogurt helps the dry chicken moisten up a bit and then it doesn't cause issues. hope that helps!

Another fun Greek yogurt recipe (used it this 4th for veggie dip) is to add a packet of the Hidden Valley Ranch powder to some plain Greek Yogurt. I felt less guilty dipping the few veggies I had in it since it was a good source of Protein. It makes a good thick ranch dip.

thanks everyone, I think I will try this for a quick and easy on the go or to have as a snack like one or two at night if I get hungry and only if I get hungry. Of course I live in a hick town so I will have to go to Publix in the next city over and look for laughing cow cheese. All I have to choose from is Kroger, Walmart and food Lion.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
