Kinda Freaking Out...

Recommended Posts

Alright, so I was banded June 7th. I destinctly remember being able to feel my port & now I can't? I also notice there is a lump near the area of the port scar. Is this normal, is or has anyone else experienced this? I am really nervous about it & planning to call my doctor tomorrow. My first fill is July 9th and I assume I am worrying over nothing, but I am a little worried. I notice I can eat more & I have cheated a little but not much. Thoughts, anyone!?!?

you've been banded for a month and the swelling has gone down, that's why you can eat more.

don't worry, but do go in for a checkup. I'm sure it's nothing.

The port is a lump near one of your scars.

I thought at first I could feel a little button size object under my skin near the largest scar on my left side, now I can't feel it but there is a lump. I have lost I believe 17 pounds in the last month & all is well, I am looking forward to my fill just nervous about that damn lump & no more little button sized object LoL!

I have a lump of scar tissue and 'lumpy fat' under my largest scar, but it isn't the port, as I originally thought. It might be the same thing, so try not to worry :)

I think for your state of mind it's good you can see the dr. soon. Everyone is probably different - I can currently feel what I think is my port and it's a tiny hard thing right under my most painful incision (6 days post) but my friend that had this couldn't EVER feel her port until she'd lost over 100 pounds... and she was no heavier than I. We probably all carry different bits of different scars, tissues, fats, etc. in different places so I bet just as your body is changing, so is the port place. Let us know what you find out but try not to worry too. Best of luck to you.

Alright friends, the lump is where my port is...the doctor said everything is normal & I am doing just fine :) My 1st fill was on Monday July 9th and I passed out LoL! I have never passed out before so it was quite the experience BUT I think it was nerves & lack of food. I am feeling good, no complaints. She said I would feel fuller faster, but I can't say that I have noticed that to much. I was only given 3.8 ccs, and I do notice I need to eat much slower & chew better. Thanks everyone!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
