Self Pay Need Help Finding Doctor

Recommended Posts

My insurance will not pay and I am looking for an afforadable option. I live in Arkansas and I am willing to travel. I am researching US and Mexico doctors. I am having a hard time finding a Dr clost to me to do fills on a Mexico patient.

What are some of the prices that you self pay people have paid? Can any one recommend a Dr in my area? What about the Mexico experience?

i live in illinois and my fills are $250....i have seen people do the whole mexico thing...me personally it would make me very nervous to be that far away from my original surgeon..some doc's wont touch other surgeon's patients and in the instant you are too tight you need to be able to get to a lap band doc,

just my 2 cents

Think about the mexico thing. The place that i researched they charge about 5500. For the lap band but like someone said previously another doctor won't touch u in most cases. Question y won't your insurance pay?

My insurance wouldn't pay and if I paid cash it was just under $11k but if you paid with a card it was more like $12K. I'm in Utah. My dr. charges about $300 a year after the 1st year which is a yearly fee for fills and checkups, etc. He also takes insurance. Dr. Darrin F. Hansen. He is WONDERFUL. I went to many seminars, drs, etc before picking one. I too considered the mexico route but decided I felt safest in US (doesn't mean I was right ;)). Also you can pay per fill with my dr if you prefer, I think it was $75. He will only do his own patients. He never lost anyone and has done hundreds of bands AND his office people are all banded, nurses, etc. which I liked. Good luck to you!!

I have just decided to have my lap band surgery, and recently started my "investigation" about the subject. I am located in Europe so I am not sure if you are willing to travel that far but here is what I'm gonna do and the cost. The lap band surgery self pay in Hugary cost about $2100, 2 years fills included. I am talking about the best doctor in a state of the art hospital. I am from Hungary but I live in the UK, so I will get my fills in the UK, lots of doctors to choose from and the cost is 60-80 pounds (non X-Ray) or 150 (with X-ray).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
