I read on my discharge papers that I should be taking Multi Vitamins. Can someone tell me what I should be taking?

I took just a basic Multivitamin that you buy over the counter. I would ask them to clarify for sure what they want you to take. Post-op I took chewables for a couple of weeks until I was back on solids.

I would definitely check with your surgeon since each is different, but I'm taking a liquid multi, liquid Vit D and liquid Vit B12. I opted for the liquid so I could start it sooner, I was Vitamin deficient before surgery and needed the extra.

I was advised to take a Centrum chewable. Check with your MD office.

Thanks Jen!! It does feel great but I must admit I still get impatient sometimes. I have to stop and really think about how far I've come in such a short time. I guess when you have 180 pounds to lose after already dropping 83 it tends to weigh on your mind a bit...no pun intended.

I feel ya there - I have to remind myself every morning that I step on the scale that losing 0.6 lbs it better than gaining 0.6 lbs. I still don't see any change in my body like others do. Maybe after I make it to half of my goal I will feel differently but right know I'm still at the bottom of the steep hill!!

I was told I could take Centrum chewables and a Calcium chew. There are many brands of bariatric surgery specific Vitamins too (Opurity, Bariatric Advantage, etc).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
