My Tummy Has A Monster In It.

Recommended Posts

I'm on day 3 post op and I'm doing great. The gas in my shoulders is almost gone and I'm getting around pretty good. The funny thing is that my tummy sounds like a monster lives in it. It growls and gurgles constantly. I'm keeping up on my Protein Drinks (about 80 Protein grams/ day) and lots of other fluids. Last night I was able to resume normal "movements" so I'm not holding anything in. I just find the constant gurgling and growling funny. Even my dog noticed it. LOL

I here ya! I had those growling and gurgling noises for about 6 months then they completely went away. Now at a year out my throat gurgles!

This was so funny. I hope the sounds go away or at least never embarrass you in public ;)

I totally understand how you feel. I would be sitting in the middle of a college class and my friends next to me would start cracking up because my stomach was making so much noise. Lets just say it still does it even after almost 4 months and 1 fill but not as much. It really makes me laugh. I have found that drinking Water while it does it really helps, especially when I am not able to "feed" the monster inside. :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
