I'm At Newbie At This!

Hey everyone.. I was banded 6/7, and am on liquids since then. I start mushy foods in 2 days and looking forward to it! Full liquids have been pretty hard, but i've dropped 25lbs already so that's whats keeping me going! I am a wedding photographer and all the wedding food does NOT make this any easier. This past weekend's wedding, I drank Water only, as the only other beverages available were carbonated, which I was told to avoid. Should have planned a little better...

I would not want to have your profession and attempt to lose weight. I have a lot of will power but that's just asking too much from me. It would be like working one day a week at a buffet restaurant. If you pull this off, congrats and you deserve an attagirl.

I am three years out and I keep food with me at all times. I eat normal food but I dont like to let myself get too hungry. I almost always have nuts or cheese or something in my purse...you are right to try to plan ahead...

Wow! I was banded on the 8th. 25lbs is fantastic!!! Great job! I know it's hard, how do we get through this? For me, Protein and keeping very busy is helpful. Keep it up!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
