I had my surgery six months ago and just feel so down. One of my friends has talked me into getting on the computer and talking to other people that have had the surgery ,so here I am. I have the band that holds 10cc's and I am at 4cc's. I was at 5 but I had alot of issues with eating last month. I could not keep food in.I had to live on Protein Shakes. I am still having some issues with eating. I am tired of just shakes and eggs, Protein Bars. Is this normal???????

If you arent able to eat solid food then u need to return to your doctor, it may well be that u still need some Fluid removed from your band. The relief u will feel when u can eat failry normally is worth the effort it will take on your part to restrict yourself on the amount of food u eat.

It does sound like u are too tight and that in its self can cause u not to lose weight as u tend to eat more slider foods as this is all u can eat..

good luck .......you need to get back to doctor !

It has been over a week since the dr has taken out 1cc. Yeah, plan on calling the dr again on Monday. The thing is I have been losing weight right along. I have lost 64lbs since my surgery. The last couple of months has been the worse not being able to eat. Thanks for the help.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
