Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Recommended Posts

I went and saw my nutritionist today and I was so happy. I lost 5 lbs in two weeks but the part I was scared for was I was sick and doctor put me on steroids to get me well. The steroids made me want to munch and munch. I also had a very sore throat so some blizzards were involved so I was happy for a 5 lb loss in two weeks. Her and I were talking and she suggested we should take a field trip to the grocery store so she can really reach me what I should be eating and not. I don't know about other people but they tell you what you should stick to for guidelines and I get to the store and sometimes get overwhelmed. I will let you all know how my fieldtrip goes!

Wow, that sounds both really helpful and also a little intimidating! I agree though that it can be a bit overwhelming to get to the store and have to make decisions on what to buy so that you can eat right for the next week. I try to plan our menu and then prepare a shopping list. Doing most of my cooking from a cookbook for bandsters at the moment, so that is helping, too.

Good luck.

The nutritionalist at my doctors office has a field trip to the grocery store every couple months.

I think the field trip idea is great for people who arent confident in what to buy and cook and eat, go for it , sounds like your nutritionist is on the ball :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
