I am so thankful that I found this group, been having a rough 2 months.

I was banded in July 2010 and lost 20 pound initially and then gained back 10 and that's where I've been until April. I know it's my fault, I did cut way down on my portions, but I hate to exercise so I stalled.

Well the middle of April all hell broke loose, I ended up in the ER because the pain was horrendous. The ER doctor said I had Bilary Colic and to followup with my family doctor. I did and he set me up for a Hidascan and liver scan since the ultrasound showed nothing wrong with my gallbladder and a possible cyst on my liver. I couldn't eat anything, was nauseous ALL the time. Also had an appointment with my lb surgeon and informed him what was going on and since I was also throwing up when ever I ate he jad me do a barium swallow and removed 2cc's. He was happy since I had lost 7 pounds since my last visit, but wasn't happy when I told him it was actually lost over a 3 day period. He actually thought I was too tight and that it wasn't my gallbladder.

Went back a week later after all my tests and was feeling the same so he scheduled me for an endoscope and found 4 huge scratches in my stomach (he told my dh that it looked like a cat had scratched my stomach). Put me on prilosec and carafate and said the should work had me come back in a week and since I was still in pain after I ate and was still nauseous all the time said lets wait one more week and if you're not any better we'll go in look around and remove the gallbladder if it looks bad.

Well a week later I was still no better, but worst I was always cold and had a space heater turned on me at work, even though it was 80 outside, I was always tired, I even slept while hardwood floors were being put down in my house. So I had surgery on May 21st and thankfully the band was where it should be, was not infected but my gallbladder was infected and was removed. Recovery from this surgery has been so hard, I'm still off work and go back on June 12th. I'm just now starting to feel like my old self. I have started to rollerblade and am starting Pilates today.

Since this started in April I have lost 13 pounds in a month for a grand total of 29 pounds! And I am determined to get back on track. Other then hating to exercise, I LOVE chocolate and chips so I have sworn them off and could use some encouragement and butt kicking from this group. I see my lb surgeon the end of this months and would love to be down another 5 pounds. I know I can do it I just need a little help.

Cindy

It sounds like u know what to do u just dont like doing it lol

i actually exercise a lot ... do i like it .. i have to be honest and say no not really, but i like how i feel afterwards and that keeps me moving, i cycle around 20 to 25 miles a day sometimes on my exercise bike in front of my tv and sometimes if its a nice day, on my road bike i also do strength training .. this has served me well for quite some time and allowed me to lose the weight i needed and not get fed up doing it .. so get moving and the weight loss is a good motivator :)

I guess I shouldn't say that I never exercise, I have been walking at least 3 days a week for 45 minutes. Now that the weather is nicer here in Michigan I can rollerblade and take care of my garden. Plus I take the steps instead of the elevator at work, and I get away from my desk several times a day to walk around. So I do move around and not veg all day long I just tend to listen to my head instead of my stomach for food.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
