Opinions And Feedback Wanted :-)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I am looking to get some feedback and opinions to help with my expectations (and my hubby's!) I dont know if I am hitting a lull in my weight loss and maybe I need another fill, or maybe I need to change up my routine, but I figured that I would put this out there to you guys (the experts!!) and see what you collectively thought...

I had my surgery on Oct. 21st, and it has done really well for me, and I am grateful for the procedure. My weight fluctuates anywhere from 167.6 to 168.8, but I am not really losing much in the past month. I am still eating about 1,000 - 1,200 calories a day and my intake hasnt changed. I am not able to eat in the mornings, because the band is always too tight, and my first meal usually isnt until about 12:30 or 1:00pm. I dont eat many carbs or starches because I have learned that they tend to get stuck. But there are a few (like Ling Ling potstickers) that I dont have a problem with. With the weather warming up, I have actually increased the amount of cardio I am doing. I am walking more (pushing a stroller too!!) and I am swimming at least once a week, for 2-4 hours with my family. I am not too keen on having a fill (I only have about 4.5cc in my 10cc band) because I worry that the restriction might be too much. And I think that the calorie intake seems like it should be adequate for weight loss. But the weight loss seems to have stalled. If it stopped now, I would still be thrilled that I got this far, but I would love to utilize the band for another 20-25 lbs.

Does anyone have any suggestions on ways I can urge the weight loss to ignite again? Here is a sample day from what I usually eat: Maybe the eating is a problem?

Morning:

10oz coffee with 2Tbsp Creamer (I know... 70 calories for the creamer. I am unwilling to give it up though!)

16.9oz bottle of Water

12:30 / 1pm

Hamburger (without bun) OR grilled chicken & portabello wrap without wrap, OR 1/4 cup lowfat tuna salad w/polly'o string cheese

20oz Vitamin Water (30-45 mins after eating or before eating)

4pm

seven or eight dry roasted peanuts in shell

16.9oz bottle of water (30 mins after eating)

7:30pm

5 Ling Ling Potstickers with 1tbsp sauce OR 7 cold cooked shrimp with 2 tbsp cocktail sauce OR 1 & 1/2cups Greek Chicken Lemon Soup

8oz Decaf coffee with 2Tbsp creamer

any suggestions or feedback or advice would be great! thanks!

It looks like you're doing great! Some plateaus are normal and they can easily last a month or two.

Sometimes something as simple as adjusting your calories slightly (up or down) can kick your metabolism in to work again. Also, do you know how much Protein you're getting in daily? Most recommend between 60-80g per day.

Plus, you have to remember that closer you get to goal the slower you'll lose. So again, I'm not at all surprised you've hit a plateau.

Hang in there, I'm pretty sure if you keep doing what you're doing, eventually your metabolism will kick back in on it's own.

My suggestions would be to start eating some real food. How about yogurt in the morning or a Protein shake?

Where are your vegetables? Even if you are doing low carb you should still be eating healthy vegetables.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
