On my way to my dietitian and psych appt. kind nervous. Not really sure what to expect

I was nervous about my psych visit as well. Mine consisted of spending about an hour on the computer answering a lot of questions, which seemed kind of random at the time but help the psychiatrist determine what kind of personality you have, are you a rule follower, how trusting are you of others, self-esteem type issues. Then I had about a 30-45 minute interview with her. She was very calming and comforted me when I cried. Most importantly they want to be sure you are emotionally and mentally prepared to take on the surgery and it's aftermath.

They aren't looking for any deep, dark secrets. Just remember to answer honestly so they can help you. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

I sat there for an hour and he asked questions about my family history, my history, medical issues. Then he asked some scenerio questions about how I would deal with certain issues if they occur and how I plan on dealing with lap band and my reason for wanting it to start with. Nothing real invasive.

I think they just want to get into your head and see if they think you are capable of dealing with a life long change and how you intend on maintaining it after you get to your goal. Funny thing was, my Psch doctor had the band years back and obviously sucked at it. His wife had a child and he gained the weight.lol

My Psych appointment went nothing liked I expected. She talked to me about her sister, which i thought was odd, then told me everything the doctor had already told me about the procedure and then asked me to complete a 285 questionaire. She didnt speak to me after that, i paid and left. I would have though that quwstionare what somewhat important.

She never onced asked about my past or medical issues.

I wish they could send me the questionare before hand so I can answer all of that and then I would just have to meet with the Psych DR

My psych exam was an interesting process. I answered a bunch of multiple choice written questions, then returned to review the results with the doc and to take an oral exam as well. It was complex and expensive, but my insurance paid for it. The doctor said her only concern was that I might have a struggle with the restrictions since I am "unconventional" and not naturally a rule follower. I was afraid that might be enough of a negative to decide the insurance against the surgery. In fact, the insurance company took so long to approve the procedure that I was sure I'd be refused. Thank goodness I was wrong about that. I don't even want to think where I'd be right now without my lapand,

It went well. They actually told me wrong and I just had my psych appt today and everything else tomorrow. The spot went well. The social worker just asked me a bunch of random questions. Who is my support system? Why am I doing this? Etc. so easy. She said that unoffically I'm approved but I will have to wait a few weeks for offical approval.

Glad I came upon this. I have my psych eval Jnne 16th and was curious as to what they will do and ask. I'm always worried they will say i'm crazy or something and then i'll be denied!

wow my appt was very different I mean he asked me about my medical history but besides that we just had general conversation he'd ask a few questions here and there about weight but mostly about my family & we talked about the my. daughter. and I had a ten question test to take.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
