I'm new to this site and I don't know anyone who has had this surgery, so I expect I'll spend alot of time here getting info from other bloggers. I start my preop diet on Friday and my surgery is on June 1. I'm both nervous and excited.

Hi' date='

I too start my preop on Friday and surgery June first together with my sister. I'm ready and excited to begin my weight loss journey.[/quote']

My surgery date has not been set yet, but my last appointment for my 6 month pre op diet is May 25th. I expect to have my surgery any day between june 10-16th. I have been rejecting this process mentally, and physically but my heart and strength is keeping me going. It seems weird but it feels as though, the closer I get to the surgery date, I may be rebeling as result of fear. My biggest fear is that I'm 20, at 340 and this will be my first major surgery. I keep praying and trusting that all will go well!!! I have a phobia of needles, but mainly because I've never had a major surgery before. I have my mind made up though, and no matter what, I will definately be banded by the end of June. It hasn't been easy altering my bad eating habbits, but I keep picturing myself becoming a NEW me, and I keep pushing :-) Nothing or no one will take this away from me...not even myself! (Sometimes we tend to be our own worse enemy!!) I encourage everyone else who is feeling like me, to stay on LBT and talk about your fears....and KEEP PUSHING!! This site has great examples of what is to come for all of us!!!!!

It is so great that you've decided to have this surgery, especially at your age, before the excess weight takes it's toll on your body. I would have loved to have this available to me back then. It is very easy to keep saying you'll do it on your own, but that rarely works for longer than a couple of years if you're lucky. My understanding is this is a tool and when used with other recommendations of your surgeon you will be thanking yourself for years to come. Keep up with the positive attitude and it will get you through. Also remember postop, no matter how tired or painful it is at first, the sooner you get moving, the faster the pain will go. Of course following the recommendations of the staff. Make sure you let us know how you do!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
