Was banded this morning! Before I get to the "ugly" I want to say my overall experience isn't that bad!

I was banded around 8:15ish, completed and sent to recovery 9:20ish. When I "came to" I was immediately hit by nausea, anesthesia has a way with me so I expected it. My pain was around a 7-8. They gave be the appropriate meds for nausea and pain.

I went home around 2:30 after getting my GI X-ray and consuming about 5-8 oz of Water, and a all sugar free Jello.< /p>

I'm home now, and are BATTLING this chest gas pain, along with shoulder pain! I took 2 chewable gas-x... No relief this far! ANY SUGGESTIONS? I'm moving around every hour on the hour. AND what did you all consume days #1 and #2 post-op?

I CAN'T WAIT TO START MELTING OFF THESE POUNDS!!!!

walking every hour is good. I've read that some have used a heating pad to help with the shoulder pain. Gas-x yes. Other than that, you just gotta give it time to work itself out of your body. All liquids post-op. Your doctor should have given you some guidelines/meal plan. Some want Clear Liquids for a day or two and then just liquids (like Protein Shakes, milk, Soup, etc). The time-frame depends on your doctor. My doc had me back on real food by the end of my first week. I've read where others have had liquids for two weeks, purees for two then mushies for four, then solid food. Check with your doc and nutritionist. God bless and congrats on your surgery!

My surgery was Friday. I was told to try peppermint tea for the gas. I have started doing shoulder rolls to get the gas moving in my shoulders and that seems to be working. Day 1 I had my shakes and clear liquids which I will have for a total of two weeks then I get to go to mushie . I hope this helps if you have any other questions just ask away. Tammy

WHAT shakes DO YOU RECOMMEND? I HAVE HUGE CONSISTENTCY ISSUES (too thick, too chalky, ect) I LOVE SPECIAL K Protein SHAKES, HOWEVER THEY HAVE TOO MUCH SUGAR AND NOT ENOUGH Protein :-(

I like the chocolate EAS 100% whey Protein. I mix it with unsweetened vanilla almond milk.

I found malox worked better for me than gas-x did. I keep a bottle at home and one at the office. As far as shakes go' date=' I love Ensure - chocolate of course.[/quote']

DOES MAALOX MAKE U GO #2? I REALLY NEED SOME RELIEF, I CAN HANDLE THE SHOULDER BUT NOT THIS CHEST GAS!

I'M SHOCKED TO HEAR ENSURE, I TASTED THE CHILDREN'S FORMULA AND DIDNT LIKE IT :-(

No for #2...I took milk of magnesia each day after surgery and that helped tremendously. I love ensure! The EAS shakes are really good too.

THANK U FOR THE INFO! I'M SENDING MY HUBBY OUT AS SPEAK

I walked once around the block right before

I took my pain medicine so every four

Hours. The first two days were rough for me. Hang in there, keep walking. The gas x did nothing for me...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
