I am 2 days post op and feeling good! The first and second day I had horrible gas pains! I am so happy with my decision! I am not hungry at all :) that frightens me a bit because I can't get down the Protein. I hate having to watch my hubby and kids eat regular food but hey this is what I signed up for! I am also having a hard time taking my meds crushed in applesauce! It's horrible tasting! I hope everyone is doing well!

Those crushed meds are a problem. I actually stopped taking one of mine because it was so horrible. I would NOT recommend doing that though. I know I am taking a risk doing it and have considered several times in the past trying to quit this particular med.

Try mixing it with SF chocolate pudding. I learned this from my sister who is a PA and has a 6 year old son who has to take crushed tablets. She told me it has such a strong taste it helps cover up the taste of the meds. I also tried the applesauce first but it was just horrid!!

Hope this tip helps!

I had percoset for pain after surgery and I would crush the pill in the bottom of a shot glass and add lemonade crystal light powder and a little Water, mix, and just knock it back like a shot! Haha. It wasn't as disgusting that way, plus how hard is it to take a small shot and follow with a sip of water? It was a life saver for me, hope it helps you too!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
