Have my first fill on May 10th and I'm just wondering if it's going to hurt like hell?

My husband has to work so I will have my 4 year old and 17 month old with me and I don't wanna scare them...

I wont lie it does pinch a little, my place gives me a shot of litocane first (fills like a bee sting) then when she does the fill you do fill pressure but its gone as soon as they are done. They will cover it with a bandade and your all done. good luck

I had my first fill yesterday and was surpirsed how easy it was, I had read all kinds of experiences on here but for me, other than the initail stick, I felt nothing and he was done in about 30 seconds and no lidocaine. Good luck!

i never feel anything, to me me there is no point in having an injection to kill the pain from another injection, if its done right it shouldnt hurt at all really.

You will feel a pinch and them some pressure and then it is over. I was really nervous the first time too. You will be fine. Good luck!

They're uncomfortable for me. The lidocaine burns for a second, I just can't stand the feeling of them searching for the port, hitting the port but not getting the right spot, etc. I see the PA usually and I've had to tell her to stop once because she kept missing the port and stabbing other tissue it felt like. But that was the only time.

Thanks for everyone's input...like I said my babies will be watching and they get nervous when I'm in pain. I just wanna be mentally prepared.

My doctor said he doesn't numb it first because it actually winds up hurting more

I attempted to have a fill without being numbed first...just didn't work for me. Maybe if they do it under fluoroscopy it would be better..no guess work, no fumbling.

When my surgeon does it it doesn't hurt but the PA kills me every time. He has to dig for my port. I do it with my kids with me. I just grit my done and bite my tongue.

The first fill can be tricky because they kind of have to poke around for the port sometimes...at least they did for me because mine is under my belly button and was buried in lots of fat! I did ask for lidocaine in the beginning but now the fills are so quick I don't even bother. I feel pressure when the PA touches the port and a pinch when she puts the needle in, and that's it. Then I sit up, drink some Water, and I'm done. Good luck!

Nothing to worry about, does not hurt one bit. She has us raise our legs off the table a little kinda like a leg lift which helps to push the stomach muscles to the top making the port easier to find. Needle is so small you never feel it. No pain shot used either, it is not needed band aid, and your done your kids shots hurt worse.

Then at my Dr.s you drink Water to make sure you are not to tight then your are free to go.

I don't say this to scare u but because I think u really want to know. My first fill was horrible. Took ages for him to find the port, and he dug and dug and dug. I started by laying down then stood up and when I started blacking out laid down again. He stuck me around nine times! When he finally found it I took a pic which I now always show him. Maybe most ppl have it easy and I hope u do too but some ppl do not and I hate the idea of someone telling u it's gonna be a breeze when u have ur babies in there. Maybe it will be super easy and stress free. Also I feel like crap most of the day after. Again, most ppl don't but some of us do. I'm sorry if I scared u but I wanted u to be prepared just in case!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
