JUST FOR YOU - I just went and threw the rest of the "things" away.

I hate wet slimy stinky fish.

Don't worry, Kristin. The mushies will be soon and you'll think you've never tasted food so good in all your life. Just avoid the asparagus ok? I'd hate to have you PB on something like that! Yuck!

Oh and um Kristin? Duck when Dawg comes back around. LOL

Oh Paula!!! IT GOT YOU!!! Holy cow. Do you want me to add up all the calories you comsumed by eating half the box?!?!? (I didn't think so!!)

Did I not warn you all!?!?!? Those dang "things" truly have some type of strange transe over you. You can't simply be nice to a little kid on the side of the road & buy their freakin' "things!" Once you actually LOOK at the cookie, it's like it jumps in your mouth. Am I right Paula?!?!

I sware the curse is real!! I don't know anyone who has successfully LOOKED at a cookie & not eaten it. And, you don't just eat ONE. You eat the whole box!!

Go ahead Dawg!! Give me a slap with the fish!! :)

Okay, who will the curse hit next?!?!

When I used to see them I would think that I'd better stock up because it's a once-a-year event. I think that's why I went nuts with them.

Thank God I don't like nuts, my mom can inhale those ones with the nuts. Thin Mints were my weakness.

Bring on the fish! It beats passing up another innocent girl scout doing the devil's work.

:) Kristin

Ok.. Dawg and I were just sitting and suddenly he says, "I wonder what the punishment would be for smacking a G.S. with a five pound fish?"

Diane.. I give up. What do you want to remove the G.S. curse? *laughs*:yield:

Today's plan accomplishment:

I will follow my Nutrisystem meal plans. (OK stayed on track. This is a huge accomplishment for me.)

I will exercise for a minimum of 20 min a day 4 days a week. (Got my exercise for the day.)

I will lose at least 1 lb a week. (Wait and see for next week.)

I will drink at least 64 ounces of Water a day. (Got in about 82oz so far. Can we say I live in the bathroom now. LOL!!)

Positive reinforcement mantras:

I will continue to eat healthy and hope to lose weight.

I will continue to exercise and hope to lose weight.

I will continue to be proud of myself with all the accomplishments to date.

OK, I agree killing a Girl Scout would probably be bad, but a 12 year old BOY? It's not fair if they are recruiting outside the organization. Something must be done. Let them do their own dirty work, leave the Boy Scouts to their food drives!

And scraping him out of your tire? Gawd, that was hilarious! I think I felt something burst... Wait, it was just the Girl Scout I was sitting on. Oh well, there's more where she came from...

I scumbed to the "things" that you have been talking about but that was before I joined the GFG Club. Maybe I can miss the fish slap...:) You guys crack me up. This club is sooo much fun!

Photonut- I probably wasn't real clear in my statement about my signature. I didn't delete it just clicked the box so it didn't show. I'm a newbie and didn't even think about it taking up too much room. I wish I had more time to be on line. It takes me forever to catch up on stuff.

If Diane's suggestion would lift the curse, I'd smack myself with the fish.

I say we backtrack and see who first mentions the evil things, and smack them to erradicate the evil that dwells within them.

But if you want to smack me...

*picks up a tuna*...

Let's dance!

Okay, the first person to mention those evil "things" was probably me. :) Go ahead & send the fish my way!! I'm ready for um!!! :) You're off the hook Dawg.

By the way - can I just share one more thing - PLEEEEAAAASE?!?!? My DH brought home a box of the Samoa GS cookies.:faint: He said he couldn't resist the little girls standing out in front of the grocery store. SICK!

I told him to eat them FAST & FURIOUS until they were completely gone. And to not let me see one, smell one or touch one. HE ATE THEM ALL!!

I never saw the fish slapping emoticon! Thats one I'll be sure to use (probably too often).

I wonder if I could sue the manufacturers of the evil 'things' for emotional blackmail?

I understand its supposed to be for a 'good' cause - but it's frickin cruel to the overweight.

:)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
