Are You Going To Tell Anyone About Your Surgery???

Recommended Posts

Another thing!

I don't want to tell anyone until I'm actually approved.

To me... that's like telling someone you're pregnant when your period's 2 days late!

If I don't get approved for some reason, I don't want to have to go back and tell everyone and get those sad-puppy-dog-eye looks... ugh!

Another thing that sucks about having told people is that now they are constantly asking me how much weight I've lost. I've only lost ten pounds. I still have 40 to go. it's a process.

I really don't know what I am going to do about telling others. I am in the beginning stages and have my evaluation appointment. I have mentioned to a few people, family members and a couple close friends and they were more supportive of the idea then I thought they would. My husband doesn't want me to but I think he will support me when I make the final decision. I have a hard time keeping things to myself so doubt if I will be able to keep it a secret at work but I would like to keep it private.

I decided to tell only those I cared about and trusted. Having their support is crucial to me and so far everyone has been supportive and this has been really valuable in going through my journey. I do think it is a personal decision but it is good to have that openness and support around you.

Best of luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
