Tiredness... Whats Wrong.

Recommended Posts

hi everyone. im just over four weeks out post op. for the first couple of weeks i felt really good.. but the last week or two ive been really tired come lunchtime. i have had to lay down and have a nap of an afternoon and im not getting much done .

im getting concerned about it all. i shouldnt be feeling this way. i did consider... is it hypoglycemia?? but, thinking it through i dont think it is. ive been on low carb diets in years gone by and when ive had hypoglycemia ive felt dizzy with it as well i dont have that this time. so, its just the intense tiredness.

Im taking Barley green for extra nutrition. im just doubling up on the dosage of that this afternoon and will keep that up...Today ive eaten over my quota im sure and i havent gotten to tea yet. Also, im feeling hungry a lot of the time. for lunch i ended up having 2 eggs mixed in with baked Beans and a little chicken broth. i still felt like i hadnt had enough. my first fill is in two weeks exactly

..... has anyone got any suggestions for me?? all input gratefully received.. hugs judych

have you had your Iron levels checked lately ? according to your profile you're 65 but you can still have iron probs at any age. Lack of iron can make you feel very tired and sluggish. My dr put me on iron pills but they upset my stomach until i found a brand called Slow Fe -slow release iron supplement at my local drugstore. Check with your Dr.first. good luck !

hi there pink dahlia.. i love that name.. lol. Yes, this is a good suggestion. i had some blood work done recently but not sure if there was iron in that or not. perhaps i should ring my dr and ask?? i used to have iron deficiencies years ago but after menapause i stopped worrying about it. i will make a note it now and try and follow up tomorrow. thanks.

Im not a dr but wrk in icu 26 yrs even tho i have more personal experience with this. Happens to me evrytime i get dehydrated!! If we start slacking on Water thru the day dehydration is around the corner. I try to sip all day before meals. This must b your water intake not counting otjer liguids. I almost passed out once and now when i fall asleep evrywhere i get to drug store for low sugar electolytes immediately. My dr recommends sf propel. I keep it onhand most times. He also says u can go to baby isle for pedialyte and just chk the label for carbs bcuz u need the nutrients not sugar! Thats why no gatoraide or poweraide. Hope this helps.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
