Hi illude ~ You are truly amazing & as so many others have said, a great inspiration! :whoo: I am so glad you joined LBT so you can share your wisdom, especially with us newbies. I'm preband and waiting on insurance so needless to say, I am very impressed and more convinced than ever that the band is for me. :clap2:

I wish you all the best on your new journey of PS. I asked my surgeon if he thought I would need it, and he said you can never tell who will need it and who will not. I'm sure you'll find some great PS advice here. :gluck:

Tabbi,

Thanks again for sharing your story. It is truly amazing! I would think your insurance may cover your surgery since you have alot of excess skin and it may become painful to you now or down the road. If they deny it, I would appeal it with pictures, before and after or even a personal meeting in order for them to see the remarkable transformation. You deserve to have this done and also you need to have it done. Good luck!!!!

Hey Girl !!!!

We can go through this together ! I am having my PS consult on March 17, and have all the same fears you do (despite being twice your age).

We have to think positive-the insurance company will pay for this, the insurance company will pay for this (C'mon say it with me).

I know I am not saying anything that hasn't been said before, but DAMN-you are my idol ! You deserve nothing but happiness and all the best that life has to offer. You have worked SO HARD for this. Now let the next step in your wonderful life begin.

Good Luck and Congrats !

UPDATE! lol I know i've kind of disappeared for a little while I've just had so much going on I've neglected my site & the LBT.....but I went to the plastic surgeon  sad to say that my insurance will not cover my surgery BUT the doctor was really nice he actually knocked off 500 dollars on every procedure that will need to be done & then an additional 10% discount so that lowered the price a bit. But it's still going to cost me 24,600 dollars to have this done. I don't have anyway to get that kind of cash. I do have some savings but it's not near 25,000 dollars... SO they gave me some information on trying to get a loan for medical procedures...which I'm looking into that but i don't know I'm still having a little hope that maybe my band doctor can help me in other areas & maybe get me a better price on things....which i don't go back to see him until may 1st.....so it's going to be a while....and I'm slightly depressed :scared: I had an-unfill & i have no restriction what-so-ever.....i think i might have gained a couple pounds, but I never weight myself because I don't like to get discouraged. So I guess I'll just have to wait & see what happens in may.....THANK YOU all for your comments & care.............

Did you send pictures and or video like I suggested to you? If you did not you need to resubmit and include those. Let the doctor and his staff know that you are doing this. They should be more than happy to help you resubmit. Like I had told you, a young woman here in Shreveport did just that and it got her her surgery. Do not give up the fight!!

oh my roggie i forgot about that....i'm going to do that...but i still think i would have a better chance going through my band-doctor to try to get it covered rather than through this plastic surgeon that i just met.....& my band doctor was a bit-upset that i wasn't considering the surgery in his hospital .....but i'm going to get on that asap! i don't know what made me forget you telling me that...thank you so much!!

Yes you need to use him or your PCP so they can list possible health problems you may have in the future. The plastic surgeon would come across as one who just lists stuff so he can make money. Make sure you send close ups of excess skin and list problems you are currently having because of it. Good luck!! Keep us posted.

illude, you shouldn't give up yet...work with your band doc, resubmit, get your PCP involved, never never never apply for PS without the pics. You are a shoe-in for PS if I've ever seen one! You go girl! Dont' give up!!!!

You know, I had a brain fart, er, burp (that's nicer? LOL) and was reading your post confused because I got you mixed up with Mae, who had her PS a few months back. Now she needs a "boob job" and is planning on that for the future. Have you seen her blog and threads here? You really really need to hook up with Mae. Help me people, I can't remember her screen name and the kids are getting louder by the second...someone post a link!!!! Back in a bit...

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
