After coming to this site i thought it would be sometime in the fall since i have tricare for ins. By the grace of god it only took tricare 24hrs to approve me and i got a date for May 10th. i am so excited. i start my preop diet on apr 26th(14day)

I have to do a 14day pre op. I can have 3-4protein shakes a days and veggies. The veggies can be cooked in broth or like lemon juice. I can also have like salads with like dress that is non fat or low fat... Not looking forward to it

well... believe it or not, it will be a blessing in disguise for you in the long run. im in australia and didnt have any diet leading up to my surgery at all... and i was a big eater. Can you imagine the trauma of diet re adjustment after surgery?there was no shrinkage of my stomach at all. I think in retrospect that if id known i would have put myself on a restriction before hand. It was hard what i went though after woods. im just really starting to come out of it now. So... when you get fed up... think of the alternative.... better to do it now than afterwoods. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
