DALLAS,TX

28, 5'2, 250lbs

tried all diets since age 15

been this overweight since I had my son at age 17

I am looking for a job and prefer the job to have insurance

that covers lap band surgery, just in case.

:help: IF YOU HAD THE SURGERY AND YOUR INSURANCE COVERED IT, Please let me know YOUR JOB'S company name.:help:

I have done different types of office work, customer rep.,

a/r and have done some light industrial work.

I have been offered some jobs, but insurance does not

cover lap band surgery.

About how much was your out of pocket cost?

My mother was overweight like me,she had lots of complications

from being overweight, she passed away may 2005, age 52.

I see my self and I am just like her,I am starting to notice

symptoms that she had.:sick

THANKS:thankyou: TO ALL WHO HAVE POSTED:clap2: ,I'm sure others will find this info useful.

I felt bad because nobody has posted a response to you yet. I think most people realize its a crap shoot even when an employer's policy says that it will be covered. Maybe that's why they haven't gotten back to you. My husband's insurance is supposed to cover it. As you can see in my ticker, just because you qualify and they cover it, doesn't mean that they will do the right thing.

I did post and there was another also, but they are gone now, weird. I worked for American HomePatient and they covered the surgery. It is a durable medical equipment company. I worked in Customer service. They have brancehes in your area.

I just received my letter saying that my Lapband is approved. They will cover 90% of the cost with a $1100 deductible. The insurance is United Healthcare. I think I'm on the ProChoice Plan. Good luck.

I currently work for Wachovia and have United Healthcare - they paid for everything but 100.00. I thinkUHC is a good one to cover it different plans make you pay different amounts but overall I think if you can get UHC it will be ok.

I know Wachovia just came into TX last year but I am not sure what area.

I am in Dallas work for GE Healthcare and paid a 25.00 copay for mine. However getting Cigna to approve it was its own nightmare.

I had United Healthcare when my husband and I were going through invitro fertilization and they covered EVERYTHING. I love United Healthcare. Sadly, DH's employer changed insurance companies and we now have Aetna. Aetna is Satan's less nice brother Beelzibub (sp). No kids, no lap band.

I worked for time warner cable and had empire bc/bs, they covered my lapband also. 100% of hospital, and a 1K deductible for surgeon and then 100%

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
