why do we put on weight so easily after the band surgery?? If I eat protiens I am fine...but if I have normal food...uff...i have put on 1 kg in a day...so frustrating...

and in India we dont have many options for protiens...we dont get all the non veg varieites that you get in other countries...

and one cant go on eating cheese and pulses....I am very much depressed.

I know what you mean. I had surgery last April and only lost 15 pounds and now a year later I am back where I started from. Very depressed.

A couple things come to mind, have you had any fills? If so, do you have good restriction?

Also, do you track to calorie intake?

With good restriction, we should be able to eat no more than 1/2-1 cup of food at a sitting and shouldn't be hungry again for 4-5 hours after. This alone will drastically cut our calorie intake. However, if we're eating high calorie and/or fatty foods, then we can still gain weight even if we're only eating a small amount.

If you don't have good restriction, I would definitely go back to the doc and start getting fills. I personally use an android app called "Lose It" to track my food intake. Not only does it let me see what I'm eating at a glance but it also holds me accountable to what I eat.

Best wishes.

I eat mostly chicken as my Protein. Do you have a digital food scale? I measure out

3 oz of chicken and then eat raw veggies, and a fruit. Do your stores sell "Greek Yogurt"? This is a kind off yogurt that is much higher in protein and thicker. Can you buy Protein Powder? For Breakfast I have a greek yogurt with, half a scoop whey isolate protein powder, Splendra (artifical sweetener, Greek yogurt is sour), 1/3 cup Cereal, walnuts.

At my heaviest I went swimming everyday. I highly recommend a Water proof MP3 player; makes the time go by so much faster. Now that I have lost weight I am able to walk.

THis happens to me all the time, just keep plodding along and up your exercise. Usually a kilo in a day would be Fluid. Apparently carbs make your body hang onto fluid. If i eat a salty meal same thing happens. I have lost and gained the same two kilo many times over the past 3-4 months. I have lost in total 35 kilo over 12months, but none in the last 3 months. I am now trying to track my intake again and up the exercise. The scales were kind this morning.

Good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
