Lapband With Plication?

Recommended Posts

I went to my first seminar yesterday and got all jazzed up for the lapband. One thing that threw me off was the option of plication with lapband. It sounds great, like an upgrade that causes more restriction with no cutting. Has anyone had this done?

There is a post going around dedicated to the lapband with plication. If it was available for me at the time of surgery, I would have gotten it.

Just had it on April 2, I'm down 14lbs in 2 weeks ;)

That is amazing! Who did your surgery?

Thanks! Dr Adam Smith in ft worth tx. I had the iband

That is awesome to know I appreciate it. I am currently looking at Dr. Snyder in Denver but we may be moving to Houston! It is nice to know that there is someone down in Texas doing it :)

I had lapband with Plication on 7/7/11 and I am down 92 pounds. I would do it again in a heart beat. Mine was done in Jacksonville Florida. There aren't many doctors doing this yet and I understand that it is still in the testing stage but I feel great, look even better and I have had no issues with it at all...Good luck on whatever you decide..

I'm having iBand in 48 hrs. I look at it as two tools in one surgery. :D How bad could that possibly be?

I had it done on 4/2/12 and I'm down 10 lbs since surgery. The hardest part is how long, both pre op and post op you have to be on a liquid diet (total liquids for 3 weeks straight). Towards the end of week 3, I did test with some real food. It is amazing how small amount of food makes you feel so full. Today is day one of pureed foods (2 weeks of that post op), and I feel almost normal with eating some actual food. This option was only avialable as part of a research study.

I know the liquids will be rough but I am trying to mentally prepare now. What kind of liquids are you on?

I was on egg white Protein Powder mixed with 8 oz of vanilla soy milk. I hated the way any premixed Protein Shakes taste. That along with Water, Jello (SF), and broth.< /p>

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
